PANAFSTRAG is working with the National Assembly of Senegal in order to organize the 1st Global African Parliamentarians’ Forum in Dakar either in July/August after the Francophone Parliamentarians Conference or in November before the Pan African Arts and Culture Festival in December, 2010.
You are kindly requested to notify and encourage your Parliaments/National Assembly/Congress (unicameral or bicameral) to participate. Each Parliament can send at least two members (1 Male and 1 Female) apart from the Speaker/President. The delegate must at least include a woman.
Each participant is expected to cover the costs of air transportation to and from Dakar and boarding and lodging for at least 5 days. The participants are Parliamentarians from Pan African Parliament, Regional Parliaments and National Assemblies from Africa, Europe, Canada, USA, South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Oceania.
The activities will include meeting with Civil Society Organisations in Break out Roundtables, visits to Tourist sites and cultural shows, meetings of Parliamentarians over 2 days. National and Regional Civil Society Organisation from your countries are invited to be part of this historic activity.
In the meantime, you may get your parliamentarians to let us know
a. What they would like to see on the Agenda
b. If they prefer July/August or November 2010
c. How many of them apart from the Speaker/President will be in Dakar
d. Any other information that will be useful for planning purposes.
e. The Proposal is attached as a discussion paper with your Parliamentarian.
